What’s the difference between a psychiatrist and a nurse practitioner?

Psychiatrists are medical doctors, who have earned an MD or DO and have completed a psychiatric residency. A Psychiatric Nurse Practitioner is an advanced practice RN who has completed a graduate program with either a master’s or doctoral degree.  Both can diagnose psychiatric disorders and prescribe medications as deemed appropriate for each disorder.

Do you prescribe medications?

The goal of psychiatric medication is to improve patient functioning, manage symptoms, and promote healing for overall emotional and mental wellbeing. For some mental health disorders, prescription medication is the most effective way to treat the symptoms of the disorder.

Psychological testing done by a Licensed Psychologist for ADHD and ADD must be completed and submitted before any stimulants will be prescribed.

Benzodiazepines can be prescribed on a case-by-case basis and very limited basis and after a comprehensive evaluation.

How do I schedule an appointment?

You can call the office number at 1-833-7EMBRACE OR 1-833-736-2722

What is the cost?

Initial Comprehensive Diagnostic Intake Evaluation

60 – 90 minutes = $350.00

Monthly Follow-Up Appointments

30 minutes = $175.00

What happens if you are late for an appointment?

Late arrivals impact the amount of time the provider has to assess and evaluate what changes are needed and to thoroughly understand what has transpired since the last encounter regarding medications’ effectiveness and your response. This is a disservice to you, so please try and be on time or call to notify us in advance.

No Shows, 10 minutes late without prior notifications, cancellations, and/or rescheduling with less than a 24-hour notice will also result in being charged the full amount for that appointment.
